Yes, the Bridewell changed names. I doubt the new sign is street-legal.

Foxdale Road. If the sign is too small, paint on the wall.

Another rare older South Liverpool sign with the postal number as part of the original design.

In reference to the 2nd sign, I understand from other tour guides that the Penny Lane sign is often painted over by students - last 2 letters of 1st word being replaced by "is!"

This is supposed to be Hicks Road (Seaforth).

    now here's an unusual one.
at first it makes no sense. a road sign with Bootle on in Netherton with a number 10.
however Netherton was once known as Bootle 10...my hubby lived there for several years.

here's a better one of the rare Orrell sign on Hawthorne Rd

    and this is Ormskirk Rd

I first saw this over 8 years ago and had forgotten all about it until I went past it today. I personally can't recall seeing any others with the full post code on.

You do find them, don't you, qg?

I think I might have an answer for the postcode.
What building does it belong to?
I'd say a building which receives a lot of post.
    Perhaps a Government department?
    Or a mail order firm?
I suspect the 'XX' is only used for a particular reason, and this one is more for the benefit of the postmen than the public.

Then again, I could be completely wrong! LOL!

it's just a row of houses. no businesses along there at all. nearest none house is the local church.

I keep saying in Local History:
    "Never make assumptions."

There must be a reason, though.
