    Default 1956 LIVERPOOL LEYLAND BUS

Just thought you'd like to see my 1956 ex Liverpool Transport bus back on the road after 10 years of restoration into mid 60s livery.

Looks great Bob, lots of hard work gone into that project.

stunning. really miss the old buses.
when I was at the Holt I used to walk down to Thingwall Rd to get the 76 home as Crosville were still running some old back loaders on the route in the late 1970's.
Proud Scouser, with a dabbling of Welsh and Irish.

That type of bus was used on the 27 route. It had a a distinctive sound to its engine, so much I could tell when one was coming around the corner and not see it.

    Well done! ,
Yes the Leyland Titan Pd2/20s were used on the 27 from Edge lane depot.
surprisingly the 26 going the other way would be he preserve of AEC Regents from Edge Lane depot too.

Liverpool's Leylands sounded more distinctive and powerful as they were fitted with 'export' type Oil bath Air Filters!

Always remember waiting in Tithebarn St for route 16 home which was usually a AEC regent back loader even the punters knew it was the 16 as it stood out against the usual leyland atlanteans, and would step forward in the queue.

    HAPPY DAYS!

The Titan almost had a turbo charged sound to it. The Titans were quite fast and cornered well compared to the AEC Regents. The drivers could throw them around corners easily enough. The Regent had a distinctive "diesel" sound and vibrated a lot on idle. The Titan was a superior bus in chassis and engine, however the Regent appeared better appointed inside for passengers - from memory.

is your organisation responsible for that dark green single decker I've seen a few times in town? it's done in the old livery with the coat of arms I remember as a nippette.

"Flown" over from Malaysia? It is very good condition. It needs garaging in the UK climate otherwise it will rot. Don't take it out in the winter as the salt on roads will rot the underside.

Why do you want it painted when it looks OK? At least engine parts are easy to come by - A series.
