Dear Taffy,
Thanks for your reply - can you tell me which map to click on. Also do you know if there is a photograph of Fulwood Lodge anywhere.
Thanks,
Linda

Yes, Fulwood House was Fulwood Lodge.
(It's on the St Michael map).
Fulwood Park was laid out on the farm fields of the White House Farm.
The White House was also known as the Three Sixes, because the house was said to have been built in 1666.
In 1840 it was agreed to build the housing estate, presumably named after Fulwood Lodge which was situated on the northern side of White House Farm.
The Fulwood Park estate was more exclusive than the other two in Aigburth (Grassendale and Cressington) and was started before them. Only one house per acre was stipulated, as opposed to four per acre in Grassendale and Cressington. Apparently, this was because the owner of Fulwood Lodge wanted "Exclusive" neighbours.
Fulwood Lodge was later called Fulwood House, probably to avoid confusion with the lodge in Fulwood Park. Fulwood House was demolished in the 1890s and five roads, all beginning with the letter A were laid out on the site.
