Deprived of its unique dockland waters Liverpool
becomes a Venice without canals, just another city, no
longer of special interest to anyone, least of all the
tourist. Would we visit a modernised Venice of filled in
canals to view its modern museum describing
how it once was?

Is there really any historic evidence that the Irish and the Welsh lit fires to better direct German bombers to Liverpool? I find it very hard to believe.

The RAF also lit decoy fires on the sands of the Dee estuary, close to the Wirral shore, to confuse the enemy bombers. These succeeded in attracting many bombs that would otherwise have landed on Merseyside.
This is one of my favourite Liverpool buildings. Now sadly being left to rot. One of the last buildings designed by the renowed Liverpool architect, J. Francis Doyle. I particularly like the sundial clock.
