I wouldn't name it after an individual, we've got the tunnels after royalty and certainly not Lady Di as suggested, what's she got to do with anything.
That sold it for me but they probably wont mention it.

The New World Gateway, leave me alone I'm trying aren't I. I just had to use this snazzy emoticon.

    Thanks again.

I can only remember people hating Derek Hatton and his crew. I never knew anyone who supported them.

Then the video clip is a must for you, unless that is, you would prefer to keep your erronious pre-conceived impressions.

PS: I wonder just who voted them in, even after Thatcher negated the democratic will of the majority Liverpools electorate?

    Sloyne Hi

I did know that but as kids in the 40,s we did not say 'we are going to the landing stage'. It was always the Pier Head to us and to the millions who graced New Brighton every week end.
Yep true though the name does say it all

As an aside, we could possibly start a thread on the Hatton v Thatcher years (though, the leader was actually Hamilton) and give the pros and cons (no pun intended) as to what people now think really went on.

Lindylou, the labour party were voted into power by the people of Liverpool, have a look at the video submitted by Howie.

Liverpool Ocean Gateway then - a ring to it like Liverpool John Lennon Airport.

Something telling the world, not just Manchester/Brum/Leeds who all think they're bigger and better than us that it's Liverpool's and you've gotta mention the name - it's extravagant - something those land-locked places could only dream about.

I don't have enough interest in Politics to be bothered looking.

I was just stating that I never knew anyone who supported them.

I can only recall people slating Hatton and his crew.

A very disingenuous reply for sure. If you have, as you state, little interest in politics why comment at all? Replying, as you have to a political post, takes far more effort to type and post than does a mouse click on the link that would add to your knowledge of the person and period discussed. Like I said lindylou, a very disingenuous reply, IMHO.

I never normally reply to political discussions - you won't find much from me in the politics thread.

I was just commenting that they were not popular with everybody, not every Liverpudlian voted for them - I can remember a lot of people who were against.

That is why your reply to this one reveals more than you would probably wish about you own political bias. But thanks for posting anyway.

    Cheers lindy.
