    1st August 1912, A hundred years ago.

My Grandad Bernard Hogan was born in Comus Street off Scotland Road.

you can read about him on the link above, but for the short version......He went to Bishop Goss school, Supported Everton, Play footy and Snooker, lost his dad in WW1. Worked as a Flagger, was known as 'Barney ' Married Nanna in 1937 at St Anthony's, Joined Royal Artillery as a Gunner at start of WW2. Served in Malta for 3 years defending the Grand Harbour before going into Italy. Killed in action Jan 1944 aged 31.

I am very proud to be his Grandson. He was my first interest in anything wartime, The websites and research I do all began from him. It is incredible that you can love so much somebody you never met. Happy Birthday Grandad, Never forgotten.

    BE NICE......................OR ELSE
