    Default CARDINAL GODFREY SCHOOL

I've been asked if anyone knows the apparent illustrious connections between Cardinal Godfrey School buildings (including stables) that were on Barnes Road off Boundary Lane/Whitefield rd near Ogdens before their demolition and either Lord Derby or Lord Sefton?

Our Lady Of The Assumption, next to Belle Vale shopping centre. I have looked everywhere for photos of the senior school that was pulled down in the 1980,s. I have never found one

    Hoping one may turn up

Worked in Stanley Comp, repairing lockers the the gym block, that was an eye opener.I thought it was only men that 'flashed'.

St Johns in Kirkdale reaches the end of its life as it gets demolished this week.
This is the school I started my education in, obtaining a scholarship in, to go on to SFX college.
I had no idea it was being demolished I just came upon it on a walk around Walton and Kirkdale. So I took a few pics then retired to the Saddle Inn on Fountains road to cry into a pint.
Notice the artwork on the upper walls.
When they build schools now they have a life span of about 40 years, all my
children`s have been demolished both juniors and seniors already

Sad sight that GD, just for it to sit as a wasteland I suppose. Good job you got a pic of it a few months ago. It's very similar to my old one - Bishop Goss, that's still up and being used. Wellington Road one in Dingle is similar too, all built in ther same era.

A pity to see another bit of my past, bite the dust! I went to St. Johns infants, and remember everyones enthusiasm, about getting to the juniors, simply because the playground was on the roof(Just imagine the consequences, if it was still used as a school now) Do you remember the headmaster around 1960,G.D.? Mr. Taylor, He went on to English Martyrs, round the corner, which has also been demolished!
