    Default Lambeth Road School

    [IMG][/IMG]
This magnificent building was demolished before it`s time.
The play ground behind the building was huge and flagged very smoothly so
we would climb over the wall to play football and cricket at the weekends and after school hours,as all our streets around were all cobble stones.
We would put our coats or jerseys down as goal posts. We would often be
chased by the police as we were trespassing. If you left your coat behind
your mother would have to go to Westminster Rd police station to collect it.
This would result in 5/- fine sometimes, now the police would let you play there and supplythe goal posts and football kits.

    Default Bishop Goss.

Grosvenor Street, Liverpool 3. My old junior school. It's still there but used for something else now including a private nursery. Pic by Joe Devine.

We were allowed on the roof now and again, you could see Bidston windmill before all the tower blocks got in the way. My mate and I went back the school to have a look around and were given a guided tour, the old toilets are still in situ and all the old radiators in the classrooms.

    Default Bond Street

Our lady's boys school just prior to demolition. Bond Street ran from Limekiln Lane down to Vauxhall Road in the Vauxhall area. A new Wimpey estate was built here during 1992/3.

Default Liverpool Collegiate - Shaw Street.

Now student accommodation. This always reminded me of a Tom Brown's schooldays type boarding school so as an 11+ probability for me - I purposely failed -honest. St. Gregory's, Prince Edwin Street seemed much more civil and welcoming.
