Thumbs up Old Swan and surrounding area's

Hi all, does anyone have any "OLD" Old Swan photo's / Video footage from bygone days. I have some video from the 50's from a Tram Video, which by the way shows other areas too, Broadway, Dovecote, Page Moss, Everton etc ... I have the link for a part of the video on Youtube, which goes from Fairfield to Dovecote ( Prescot Road )...

Thanks for that trip back in time.I often went on the No 10 tram,I left the Swan in 1961 when we had the Regent and the Curzon to go to,passing through now it just seems smaller than I remember it.

I liked watching that, anyone remember the old tram shed that stood on the site of the Netto at the corner of Green Lane and Prescot Roads. There was an old tram in there till the mid to late 80s that could be seen from the top deck of a bus.

You get a brief glimpse of it on the left hand side of the road, 8 seconds into the video. Martin

Mart. Don't know if you've ever tried this LRO on line catalogue facility but if you click on next record, more come up and so on. Type whatever you're looking for into the search box, if it's not there, try a new search etc...

Anonymouse, thanks for those, haven't seen the second one before.

Am I right in thinking the second one was taken somewhere near where Sainsbury's is now, looking towards Dovecote ?
But then the road doeasn't look that wide, unless they "moved" the fencing on Springfield Park, over to the left more ! to create another side of the central reservation..... It just doesn't seem right !

Mart, those are the houses just past the Wheatsheaf looking down to the Knotty Ash Tandoori. The old East Prescot Road used to follow this route

Spot on Mart, this was Prescot Road before it became a dual carriageway and was renamed East Prescot Road. The other half went the other side of the 'Turk's Head' (where Wynsors is now) and the Village Hall.

The address does not appear in directories until 1909 & then as Lewis & Co "drysalters"
It is first shown as a garage as a garage in 1912
    The address is 389 Prescot.
It was listed as the "Premier Garage"
