    Default Metropolitan Cathedral.

Some good views of the R.C. Metropolitan Cathedral of Christ the King under construction in the LRO.

I have added 15 to the bottom of this page:- http://inacityliving.piczo.com/?g=42204765&cr=7

    Including this one.

A little bit of information on the Bells:

Cast in 1966 by Mears & Stainbank, the 4 bells are swung by a chain driven motor but can also be chimed by a rope on special occasions.

"Matthew" - its weight at 91cwt 2qrt 6lbs (over 10cwt heavier than the heaviest ringing bell at Liverpool Cathedral).

The view below of Matthew showing the top of the 6ft red door for comparison.

Did you see the pic of the bell close up and then being lifted into position Cad?

I did lad. I'm surprised there wasn't another rope at ground level as 4 tons of metal when it starts to swing...

Nice pics Corky100. That Anglican sure is a beast and i'm glad it ended up with one central tower rather than the 2 originally planned which incidentally is in a painting in the walker art gallery that was completed using the architects plans.
