    Default Ormskirk.

As there's already a thread on Skelmersdale and Hale which are other Counties, I thought i'd post some pics of Ormskirk that I took around Christmas.

Named after a viking settler, lots of ancient history here with its 1000 year old market and nearby Burscough Priory and Lathom House. The quaint villages of Haskayne and Parbold are only a short distance away with canalside pubs and Ormskirk itself is only 15 mins from switch island (3 hours if you're walking)

Here is the International food market that's on every now and again. The main market is on every thurs and sat.

Ok Kev,I will leave it to Liverpool to do it.I am not knocking Liverpool,I just am honest. Some people don't like honesty but tough I say.
I do think Ormskirk is cleaner,so is Thornton,Rainford and Chester.
I also think Rome is a dump along with Liverpool coming close. My opinion and entitled to it

This John, is just a sweeping statement about Liverpool, I wouldn't say most of Liverpool is dirty and untidy. There are lovely, clean, attractive places in Liverpool, lots and lots and lots.

I don't know enough about Ormskirk to comment but its tiny in comparison to Liverpool.

Nice pics of Ormskirk. Have been there a couple of times, might dig out a few pics.

Taken in 2006 when we went to get our family photos done. Since we went there, there has been a Liverpool studio that opened.

Ormskirk is only one of three parish churches to have both a tower and a spire!

There are some nice clean places in L/pool but there's a whole load of ugly dirty places, and I mean "a whole load".
I open my eyes and see all this crap and wonder where all this "great stuff" is (Oh yes, city centre).

Maybe Ormskirk has a smaller population but it is the people that make the place a nice place to visit/live.

I never need to put L/pool down as it does a fine job by itself.

Let's sooth the situation with a bit of 'music' from Ormskirk's Church:

Liverpool is a hell of a lot cleaner than it was 20 years ago when Church Street was terrible for litter. Furthermore, it was the Duke of Westminster who said he would rather go for a night out in Liverpool rather than Chester because he feels safer in Liverpool. Most of my work colleagues tell me how rough these small towns are after dark Ormskirk and Southport being no exception. Furthermore I have seen urban decline in these places too.

In fact yes I agree Chester city centre is nice as is Liverpools but what about some of the estates in that city? Loads of people I know who live in Chester say they are ver chavy and rough and don't go near them.

The chavs and the rough are all over the place just like the hoodies.
I reckon we got more than Chester.I haven't heard of many shootings, stabbings, muggings, robbed cars or smackheads being a major problem in Chester unlike Liverpool.

Chavs are not all over the place in Liverpool as we have nice areas and poor areas just like Chester. If Liverpool is worse for crime than Chester produce the statistics. There is no evidence statistically that crime is worse here than any other part of the UK.
