The longboats came for a festival in Liverpool last year but haven't heard of any this year. Did hear rumours that some dickheads stoned the boats as they passed through Bootle.
I guess there'll be more once the canal link is finished.

Stoning of canal boats in the Bootle area has certainly happened before so nothing new.

It deters the canal boats from visiting the city and gives the city a bad name to visitors. They have to go on convoy with an escort.

I have my canal boat on the Amstel in Amsterdam. Just near the 'Red Light' district. I have never experienced any stone thowing ! One or two drunks take a wobbler and end up in the canal or occasionally you are accosted by prositutes but that is about 'it'.

I agree, this is so shaming.

I love canal boats.. so lovely ... thought they had them moored by the Docks.. what gives on this.. and stoning them..???? Strange behavior...WHY?
Is there not enough space to moor them?

Surely the solution is to hire decent young local men (there must be some) to work as bobbies on bicycles to keep an eye on things. It would reduce unemployment a bit too, money well spent.

What colour is the sky on your planet ? That is never going to happen here. Our policemen are too affraid to come out of their offices. They handcuff themselves to their computers.
