    Default Gerrard's House Burgled

Steven Gerrard latest Liverpool player burgled

I thought I heard on the news that his wife and her friend were held "at gunpoint" but the burglars were probably surprised to find anyone in the house.

Perhaps they do have lots of security, but if it was me and all my mates had been burgled when away, I'd pay for a large security team to house sit when I was away!

Exactly Cadfael. Isn't that 6 LFC players burgled in the last 18 months?

It is yes, LFC have announced that they're going to have to look at doing something to cover the properties of players whilst they're away on duty.

"It's incredible to think that, when you consider how much these players earn - and we all know having seen John Arne Riise's payslip - that they can't afford a house sitter."

From: "The Liverpool away-day curse," The Daily Telegraph, 12 December 2007.

Well considering that Gerrard's wife and a lady friend were both in the Gerrards' Formby home at the time, and apparently confronted at gunpoint, perhaps a "house sitter" might not help. These seem certainly to be well organized and brazen criminals.

I believe house sitting services have been offered but the players are not too keen.

It's really disturbing that players from Liverpool and to a lesser degree Everton have been targeted in this way. Hardly an incentive for the top players to move here.

It might be instructive to learn which team(s) the burglars support. Are we taking any bets?

This is annoying now and i feel for Stevie G I really do as he's worked for what he's got. BUT as usual, the whole media focus has all been about his wife and its any excuse for a pic in the paper.

She's still doing her 'column' in the papers this morning about fashion and shoes etc, quality

Why all the fuss anyway? Its not like they are any better a human being than the rest of us? Kerry Katonas break in was another example, was it really a bereakin?

Remember when everyobne used to complain every time the Queen was front page news with a broken finger etc?

    How we've all changed

And it doen't matter where the robbers are from, if it was Chelsea the robbers would be from around that area, makes sense.

no matter what we all think about footballers with their wags and wealth, it's a horrible thing to be burgled and the robbers are lowlife scum.

sorry to sound a bit rude but who gives a toss, they are probably insured for such things. when a normal person house gets broken into it who cares then? it does not make sky news. our house was broken into years ago we where all in bed asleep till mum heard a noise, we all went downstairs following each other nervously as we, went they robbed the video, watches,my bank book, maybe small they meant alot to us where was the police? still at the station 2 hours later they where never caught the scum bags. mum's hated that house ever since.
if she can buy him a £10 k watch surely the money would have been well spent on more security. i am sorry but these wags are always flaunting what they have so it is going to be temptation to any scum bag no matter where they come from.

yes, you are right Pasha. I'm not particularly concerned because of who the footballers are - just that the robbing lowlife disgust me no matter who they do it to. I just think that they are horrible to take advantage when they know players are away at matches.
I know what you mean about the wags flaunting their money.

Sorry to hear you had that awful experience of being burgled. I don't blame your mum for feeling that way about the house - being robbed would shake anyones confidence.

Alex Curran is moaning in todays Daily Post about how its up to Liverpool FC to provide security - er no its not, its the players. Airline pilots, oil rig workers, soldiers and the like dont have their employers looking after their homes for them. They are on enough money to sort out their own - 2 guys with a dogs patrolling their house grounds wouldnt cost an extortionate amount and they could proably write it off against tax. When I was a Littlewoods pools collector I got my takings robbed at knife point but I didnt demand protection on my rounds, I just took better precautions.
