Found this from the liverpool records office taken in 1932.
No ships I`m afraid but a few barges which I presume have been delivering coal.

Deprived of its unique dockland waters Liverpool
becomes a Venice without canals, just another city, no
longer of special interest to anyone, least of all the
tourist. Would we visit a modernised Venice of filled in
canals to view its modern museum describing
    how it once was?

    Default empress of britain

One of my old slides of the Empress Britain in the old Gladstone graving dock in 1961. She was a frequent visitor to Liverpool before she was sold in 1963to become the Queen Anne Maria. She`s had a few owners and name changes since then like Olympic,Topaz. At the present time she is cruising round the world as The Peace Boat promoting peace, not bad for a 51 year
    old lady.

Took this today on the way to a fishing trip on the dock wall. Its the left hand side of Stanley Dock. Notice the mussels on the old dock gate in the left hand corner
