For anyone interested in railway modelling there is an excellent thread HERE on the building of a 4mm scale model of Lime Street Station circa 1945. The thread is ongoing and quite long but towards the end are some good pictures. The detail the builders have put in is nothing short of amazing.

Great model of the station, you nearly had to walk that far down the platform to get to the front of the London train,(where the guys hand is) does anyone remember the precut buildings you could buy from Hobbies to make a background for your railway, there were banks and shops etc with celluloid windows they had gravel and pretend coal and little sacks to go on the trains, milk churns and all sorts of stuff

I bought model planes there, but the train buildings and scenery section was always worth a look around at Hobbies...
