Default The Holly and the Mistletoe -- Haibun (CTG)

    The Holly and the Mistletoe

The bright red berries of holly make us merry. A true sign and symbol of Christmas! The mistletoe has its place, grows in clumps on apple trees and oaks, is sold in supermarkets. We suspend a sprig of that white-fruited plant from the ceiling and kiss our love under it. But mistletoe's a parasite, despicable and sneaky. Not like the honest holly!

    Mistletoe -- parasite!
    Give us rather the holly:
    full-blooded and true!
