What denomination? I wonder.
Radial or Cross-ply?
It's a Goodyear for either

Joking to one side the War Memorial in West Derby Village had half a dozen chippy papers around it a few weeks ago , I stopped to pick them up to put in the bin and a schoolboy no more than 11 or 12 walked over and helped, only took a minute, I don't know if the wind blew the papers there or they were dumped there .But it was nice to see a youngster with the feeling of respect to help clean up.
Thanks, Oudeis, lesley, and Prefab. Of course I don't know who might have left the old tire in front of the war memorial but it gave me a nasty feeling. Good for you and the young lad clearing up those chippie papers, Prefab.

It may be a sign of the times - but I can see the need for micro CCTV cameras to be installed close to War Memorials/Monuments; and if the guilty party is caught, they can then be tied to community service orders - cleaning up any mess/ damage, as well as footing the bill, etc.

Hi Daz
You might be right that CCTV protection might help. In the case of the war memorial I wrote about, a small memorial in the Baltimore neighborhood of Medfield, I am not sure that whomever discarded the tire meant any desecration. Indeed, for all I know, the tire might have been left by a child playing with it. But whether a child or an adult, I sense that the tire got left there more through ignorance than malicious intent.
Best regards

Hi Chris, as you say, it might've been left out there by malicious intent? However, there've been a few deliberate cases of, let's say, inappropriate behaviour over here: the adopted son of David Gilmour [Pink Floyd] was filmed swinging from a Union Jack flag on the Cenotaph; and another case of a drunken student urinating on a War Memorial, in Sheffield, who has since received 250 hours of community service.
It seems crazy to ring-fence all these structures, you'd hope people would have more common sense and decency? Sorry, that's my one minute rant over with.
