    Max ,
I have friends John & Lynn Molyneux ,

My lot have been a nightmare to trace , my Mintons where mistranscibed as Winton , ( Still searching for the potteries link.)

Dupre, Stack . Tyack or Tyass. poss Brophy oh i've got a Woosnam .like the golfer ! The Dupre one is my g grandfather & he can't be found anywhere . so i'm completly stuck on that line .I thought it was an unusual name & it would be easy not the case ! My dads mate is a Riozzi , & they've done great tracing their tree . So it's the luck of the draw & being transcibed correctly helps ,
    Karen

My mothers maiden name was Hengler and I know there are a few more of them about now than when I was a kid,but it is still a bit of rare surname. If there are any Henglers out there it is odds on that we are related.

On a visit to Spain one year I was invited to meet the King.

    Didn't bother going.

When you've met Juan Carlos you've met 'em all!

Perhaps I've got circuses on the brain, but do Edwardo and Brian come from a long line of Ringmasters?

Wasn't there a pub up past Gregsons Well called Hengler's circus?

Also, isn't there Gerry Cottle's circus?

Yes Kevin,Henglers was a very famous circus and it stood where the Hippodrome was. In fact it was a horse circus and it was thought that my family was connected to it .If you read the very early chapters of my story on Hullo Old Home you will read the details. Apparently the Tivoli theater chain was also owned by the Hengler family, this included the London Palladium.

My Grandmother's maiden name was Ardran...allegedly a old Liverpool name, its certainly quirky! She married a Sheffielder, so I have the surname of Oakes...not a local name! Oh well!

There were 26 people in the 1901 England census with the surname Ardran. Virtually all were born in the Liverpool area. So yes its a rare name and largely associated at that time with Liverpool. Should be fun tracing your family tree with the Ardran surname
