This may sound obvious forgive me for saying it, but is the sim card and the new phone the same provider?

Thanks for your interest, prefab, bur I did use this card in the previous phone.
Maybe I just need a new phone. The annoying thing is that I don't use it that much. It's just for emergencies.

If your not too bothered about the make, just get a 15 pound pay as you phone from Tesco.

My problem was solved last week when the O2 guru decided he had had enough of my pestering & he changed the sim card. All is well. Why they couldn't have done that in the first place I'll never know.
