Thread: Central Buildings, North John St.

Default Central Buildings, North John St.

Apologies if this has been around before, but I can't find any info on any threads.
Does anyone know what these buildings were originally built to house (it now houses the Beatles Hotel, Hard Days Night.)
All I have manged to find is that they were built in 1884, on the site of warehouses (presumably LNWR or CLC owned????)
One reason for asking is my daughter works there and there have been several stories of people witnessing the apparition of an elderly Victorian-dressed lady in the building.

    Thanks
    Chris

The corner shop now occupied by the Beatles souvinir shop was defiitely Thomas Baty's wine importers and sellers throughout the 70s and 80s because our company had an account there for supplying customers for gifts at Christmas etc. I don't know the buildings original use but will take a look.

I've been told that during the second world war, Central Buildings housed the back-up for the Western Approaches Command Centre beneath Exchange Buildings.

I can't remember where I heard that though...
