Default Lower Lee House Beaconsfield Rd Woolton

    Hello all,

    First time poster here !

I am trying to obtain a photograph of Lower Lee (possibly Lea) house/mansion which was situated on Beaconsfield Road, in Woolton. I believe that is was once the home of William Gottager, a soap manufacturer from Widnes.

The house was pulled down maybe around 1960/1970s, and is now replaced by Lower Lee School. Some people have said that when a house is pulled down the council have to take photos of it. Anyone know if this is true ?

If anyone can point me in the right direction, I would be most grateful

    Over to you.

    Dave

It was the Liverpool City Engineers Department of the Council who took most of the photos.
There's no guarantee that they photographed everything, but even if you don't find what you want through the site Max provided (it's not complete), there's still a chance that a visit to the Record Office might reveal something.

The soap manufacturer's name was Gossage.
    Try a Google Search.

    Welcome to the forum.

I just cam across your old posting. I lived at Lower Lee until 1959 in what were the servants qaurters. The British Electrricity Authotity owned the house at the time and my father worked for them. I may some old photos of the house, if you are interested.

Gossage also lived in Church Road Woolton. I had an ancestor that worked for him.
