    Default What next

Though in this case, it appears some people are willing to come forward (if only the police can be bothered questioning them), if it becomes apparent that some people won't (Rhys Jones case) or the Police won't or can't do their job then the next step will be vigilantes. I've lost count of the number of people i've spoken to who've said if that happened to my daughter or our kid etc, I wouldn't trust the police or the courts to sort it out, i'd have to do it myself. We know anarchy and a break down of law and order which Vigilantes are is no way forward but when a family is feeling hopeless like reported here then what's the next step - let them get away with it?

There was talk recently that members of the 'older Liverpool underworld' were appalled and disgusted at the murder of Rhys, and that they have put up a reward of £50,000. There was also talk that they know who committed the murder, and said person will not leave the house.

It is apparently very well known in the area who 'allegedly' committed the offence and in fact his named was sprayed in graffiti on the estate. However, the police say they cannot go on hearsay and need people to come forward. It is up to the vast majority of good people to stand up and be counted now and form some sort of neighbourhood watch if there isn't one already and have belief that strength in numbers is the way forward.

If the 'kidz' are saying nothing to get back at the matrix who must feel they're working with their hands tied behind their backs then it's misguided loyalty because it's only Rhys's parents and the decent law abiding citizens who are suffering because of it. There needs to be a zero tolerence brought in like witnessed in N.Y. which was turned around. Legislation which says we'll stop and search and any gun found and its 10 years period with no half measures. A woman on the M'Side phone-in yesterday said that kids also come in from other areas on the bus and the police have moved them on. The Suss law back in the 70s/80s and the OSD Police back in the 90s were also heavy handed (but usually against those they were after with good reason but we didn't have this gun culture back then) it's true that sometimes they don't do themselves any favours but without authority of some sort it would be a free for all.

It makes you think - - - how long can that go on for ?? never leaving the house.
Can this 'person' sleep at night ? How can they eat when they must be sick to the stomach with fear ?
This lowlife must surely be suffering mentally - their life as they knew it will never be the same. It wouldn't surprise me if the culprit isn't even in the city.

And those ferrying him around shouldn't get off scot free. There's a very blurry pic on the front of the echo tonight, hope it does some good.

Got to agree Ged, I read once that "a society gets the criminals it deserves" and it really makes you think doesn't it - the fact people DO know who's done this and are helping him!!
In Newcastle there has been a lot of talk lately about people taking the law into their own hands - it's not gun's but knives that are the weapon in this area....one individual is trying to start up a Guardian Angels type of organisation (The G.A's have, I believe been active in the States for some years).
Where's it all going to end??
    Dee...

Whether you think you can or think you can't, your probably right!
