Default Lucy and Desi.... Our New Cats

    Hi all

Two rescue cats we got from a shelter and through our family vet. We received them just as Hurricane Irene was bearing down on Maryland a couple of weeks ago...

Lucy is around age ten and is a large sweet chestnut cat. Desi is age seven and a much bigger cat. He was originally named Chris, and that wouldn't do obviously. The vet tells us she saved him after he was found skeletal and hairless. Now that his fur has grown back he is a beautiful big tabby with nice white markings.

Here are a few close-up portraits as well as the two of them at their feeding bowls.

    Chris

Good news stories like this brighten the Threads
Hope Desi doesn't have the same wandering eye as his famous namesake...

That's the only problem having pets - having to leave them when you go on holiday. It's worse when you have a dog because they pine more than cats I think. I used to hate leaving our dogs. I never went abroad for a long time at first because I wouldn't leave them, and stuck to holidaying in Wales where we could take them ! I wouldn't consider kennels.
Last few hols my mum managed to look after our last dog, but still always felt a bit guilty leaving her. ( even tho' my mum spoiled her rotten)
My husband says best not to get another dog now as they do tie you down - he says we should have a little freedom now son's grown up too and we can please ourselves more now.
You can't just leave pets if you want to stay out all day or go away for a weekend. But oh, how I miss having a dog ! .. .. it's either having holidays or having a dog !
