I'd like to hear stories from anyone involved in the dock strikes pre container era (60's/70's). Were the disputes one of the reasons for Liverpool's demise in the shipping trade? Was joining the EU to blame? I've heard lots of reasons, I'd just like to get Yo member's personal views.

The docks were the life blood of lots of Merseysiders, office and factory workers, rail staff, hauliers, pubs and dock staff. Many jobs and trades were affected.

I'm a "ragged trouser socialist", but at times I've crossed picket lines and I've never agreed with the concept of flying pickets.
Any views welcome?
Regards,
Chas
