    Default Lewis's 5th floor Restaurant

    Today i was given a guided tour around Lewis's 5th floor Restaurant,
    these are a few images i took.










    The image above is Chef Les Riedyk Joined Lewis's in 1952
    Made redundent in 1986










    The pan wash in the Restaurant image taken through a
    dirty window (room not open)






    The Red Rose Rooms (posh half the other side was called the Mersey rooms)














    The Strong room in the Cash office









































    The above shows Jenny A customer who had her hair done in the
    Hairdressers on special occasions. Being interviewed by Lisa
    McAllister, Cameraman Mike Hewitt. Interview will be shown
    on the 23/Aug/07 BBC Local News.

    Opps, just been informed, that the reporters, are from BBC North west, and not Granada.

    It was good to meet you.
    I had a great morning visiting Lewis's 5th floor yesterday.
    Brought back many happy memories of the late fifties.
    I also met some lovely ladies (Sybil, Beverley and more) who worked in the hairdressing department way back then. They told some very funny tales!!

    If you, your mum or granny used to go to the '5th floor', go back and have a look - it's like stepping back in time.

    i tried the phone number from the echo to book a tour. tried it for 3 days and it never got answered. lewis`s can get to stuff and close for all i care if they cant be bothered picking a phone up. if all the places had gone they could have put a message up.

    fantastic posters and good pictures.

    One can only live in hope of a Harvey Nichols with a swanky restaurant on top to go with a refurbished Adelphi and liners in port.
