I'll get me coat..
It led me to a pic of the Cavern Gerard
You're so right bluejeans, I haven't even posted any pics from the Global City gallery as I couldn't get in there for the crowds so will do that another day but the bit I glimpsed tells you why we are revered worldwide. When the overhead railway mock up and carriage are unveiled - and the Lion locomotive, there is sure to be another influx of interested people, especially those of course with a passion for trains. Then there is the port city - which really is a taster for the Maritime museum. If you have kids I expect the Little Liverpool feature will be a must. All in all - It's the improvement on the Museum of liverpool Life just in that the building and new plaza created are attractions in themselves.
Updated weekly with old and new pics.
Sorry about that Ged, I click it and I get the POL building from the roof of the
ferry terminal new building.. strange that, dont know whats going on there.
Anybody else get the Cavern from that link.. ?
I'm off down there anyway... to do a bit of spying and see what this museum place is like..
Pics up later...
I too am seeing a picture of The Shakers at the Cavern
Here's an example.....
Me as an artist copying a dramatic painting from the 16th century of a group of people and putting a person in a suite from the 20th century into the same painting....it does not work it looks stupid.
It's just won an architectural carbunkle award!
Liverpool seems to aquiring quite a few of of these of late. It's just won an architectural carbunkle award!
A certain developers media site achieved the same merit today,
Not suprised though George, some of these new buildings are really ugly.
That New Museum is as ugly as sin
Keeping it real!

Never mind....it will have its use in the future when the space shuttle becomes the norm....roof will make a great expulsion ramp. That New Museum is as ugly as sin
Sorry I missed your post (66) Lizzie, I was relaying todays BBC news. Goes to show how Yo can be ahead of the Media City's news.
It has also been shortlisted for World Building of the Year 2011 and is in the running for the OpenBuildings People’s Choice Award. But whether you like it or not doesn't really matter - that is just a matter of taste. The fact that it attracted a quarter of a million people in its first month of opening to an area of the city that was previously practically deserted is what is important.
And 'stuff' the polls..
I went there, once.. I wont be going again..
and so did plenty more I know that wont be going again..
and so did plenty more they know.. that adds up to many thousands and thousands..
that wont be going again.. Curiosity, it never fails, see.. !
Oh !!.. Geds got an exhibit there... lets all s*** c***
Grow up.... FFS !..
Ha,ha,been twice,with more visits to come........as I grow up,like!!
What's in the Museum of Liverpool might be great but the building is an eyesore and a blot on the view of the fine buildings that stood nobly on the Pier Head before it was built. It had the bad architecture award coming.

Personally, I don't mind the architecture. I prefer the view of it across the dock than from the Pier Head - looks sleeker, and it is certainly less offensive than its black neighbours. Though, as I said, it is nice to see Mann Island coming back into use.
It was fairly busy, the other day! I think the space enclosed by the black building, and the museum, give a different atmosphere/perspective to that area, with the stepped area down to the canal, attracting more than a few, just to watch the barges pass! You can the walk through, to the view of the three graces, which is as good as it could be,with the modern buildings behind you,so in effect, two different/seperate open spaces!
I don't much care for the building tbh and certainly despise the black slabs nearby but I feel I want to defend 'our' museum now! How dare they give it 2nd prize in Carbuncle awards! I've seen a lot worse...........

Liverpool is a testing ground...thats what it is and the town planning developers should be hung drawn and quartered.
Pray do tell where they got that figure from? a large fairground put in that area would have drawn in the crowds as well but 2 years on and it will be slightly remote again....its new its the talk of the town and everyone wants a butchers at it....so when the excitement has died down so will the area.a quarter of a million people in its first month of opening to an area of the city that was previously practically deserted is what is important.
