Got it:
Closed 1931.

Even when the new estates around there were being built in the 50/60s and the population increased greatly, the station would still be out on a limb as no direct route to Liverpool centre.

Does anyone have any info on the buffer stop that still appears to be in situ at the site of Exchange Station? You can just about catch a glimpse of it if you look up to your left as you drive down Leeds St. just before you get to the glass fronted building on the corner of Old Hall St.
are you sure i have visited the site of exchange station many times it has all been redeveloped there is no excistance of platforms, rails, trackbed or anything? there is however interesting underground passage ways that have been blocked up that run under exchange station also the old wall is still there and the station booking hall building but thats it and if you go down the very bottom at where the platforms would of ended you will see the entrance to the waterloo tunnel that has resantly been cleared by merseyrail.
i wish i could find more on warren station the one before New Brighton station
The only passageway I know of that runs under the old exchange line was the subway from Pall Mall (near the junction of Prussia St) which brought you out in Bixteth st near the Stadium. Along one side of this subway were gates/railings (like cages) for some reason? The entrances are now blocked up on both sides.
I'll get apicture of that buffer stop, I'm sure it's there. The only thing I know about Warren is on the subbrit/disused-stations site
just been back to exhange station still never saw anything
