As part of the revamped schedule for BBC Radio Merseyside, station bosses have announced details of a brand new music programme that will also promote the very best the region's music scene has to offer.
The programme called 'The Pool' will be presented by Dave Monks from 8pm from Sunday 12th November on 95.8 FM, DAB Digital Radio and around the world online and will retain the new weekly slot.
The establishment of the new show follows a successful pilot programme broadcast via the BBC online website over the past twelve months and will provide an outlet for the next generation of musicians in the run up to Capital of Culture in 2008.
The programme aims to reflect the musical identity of the Merseyside region with a remit to promote new music and talented unsigned artists.
It will become not only the focal point of the regions vibrant and creative new music scene but also a two-hour trawl through the very best in cutting-edge forthcoming releases, interviews with the movers and shakers and live performances on the show every week.
Dave said: "I'm looking forward to the challenge of offering a refreshing new sound for Sunday night radio across Merseyside. On top of new music it will also be a chance to hear some Liverpool classics that never get a dusting off in the city that they were created. Each week we'll have a number of regular features including special guests selecting their favourite rock tracks, featured albums, interviews and sessions served up to provide a much needed contribution to the cities structure."
The first programme will begin with extensive coverage at the midway point of Liverpool Music week. The festival in its fourth year has become the country's premier indoor winter festival. 'The Pool', will devote most of the first programme to this with interviews, and guests informing and entertaining the people of Merseyside about this popular local event.
However if you're busy on a Sunday nights and miss the show you can listen back at your leisure! Just click on the 'BBC Radio Merseyside' - listen live' box and select 'The Pool', this service is available for 7 days from the original transmission day.
