    Certainly a miserable existence,living somewhere like that,even if life, might have been worse,before!

    Hope you don't mind me posting the pic's on your thread,Colin? But looking at that picture,reminded me of the former Kirkdale homes,in Rumney rd,in the 60's,I think,which was just as depressing,and this was after a refurb'!!!

    Certainly a miserable existence,living somewhere like that,even if life, might have been worse,before!
    To live there was a far better existance than sleeping rough in doorways or allyways,winter was harsh so the conditions of Anne Fowlers was not all that bad to those who resided in there.

    We lived not far from the Ann Fowlers home, the women were put out in the morning and let back in doors for meals, there was a curfew and you could see them lining up in the evening waiting to go back in.

    My Mam would say that us kids would end up putting her in the Ann Fowlers, because we were so naughty.
