This fine building ended up as a Yates Wine Lodge in its last guise as a pub but the badge on its exterior and another pub in the same street give clues as to its original name.

Had a few large Barsac's ,don't like Aussie White,in there when I was a pup.
The pub along the street is The Carnarvon Castle.

Another 40 files out of the LRO on Saturday morning to copy 226 images and amazed at how many have not been requested to be viewed before - so some first timers will be coming up soon including this one of Tarleton Street taken on 27th May 1968.

Please remember that the scroll bar is required to view the whole photograph.

Here is a simliar view - minus the Free Church Centre, what looked like a fine building with a tower, now replaced by a modern style bland building.

This one belonging to the Liverpool Echo has been seen before, but as a supplier to all things essential to a young me back in the early 70s, I make no apologies for posting it again. I was actually hoping to see another shot of it at the LRO but alas, you can only see the vertical sign in the distance.

Banastre Street and Tarleton Street both own the dishonour of being named after the same chap, a Liverpool slave trader Banastre Tarleton no less.

    Thanks Mark and CP.

Another 267 out last weekend - 212 on them, I was the first name on the folder. It's just amazing that all these glossy b&w photos are there of Liverpool and only the photographer and staff of the LRO have seen them up to now.
