Great images Gerard, love the old/new fun fair, the old, old outdoor fair was my stomping ground when i was a kid, loved going on the chair lift to the top of the tower ballroom, using the motorboats (top speed 4MPH and thats downhill ).

Excelent, takes me back a while used to go to New Brighton a lot.
The good old days with the donkeys on the beach, the swimming pool
and 1000,s of people on holiday, shame it is nearly all gone now.
BTW are you changing your avatar to the new camera ?

    Default Gerards New Brighton Pics

Loved all the pics Gerard! And good to see New Brighton looking so well! My wife and I spent a lot of time there back in the mid 50s, so brings back lots of good memories. I wonder if the 'Spanish Bar' in the lower floor of the 'Grand Hotel' is still in existence? Cheers!

The Grand was demolished last year. There have been plans in to develop residential property on this site but, as far as I know, they have not been approved.

Manwhile, the former Chelsea Reach (at the bottom of Victoria Road) has been converted into apartments known as the 'Chelsea Plaza' and these are now available to let.

Wow! Someones been busy! Goodness me! I just don't know where to start really. Just well done! Never seen New Brighton looking so good!

The image above of the crane and the tower grounds is something to do with the Water Board I think; theres a massive round hole behind those railings. Might be a bottomless pit: New Brighton's latest attraction!

    Keep up the good work!
