Lost Stars on a Walk of Fame

Clearly not made to last for good
like the walk in Hollywood,
the photos evoke more shame
than everlasting fame:

the stone of The Merseybeats shattered,
as if their feats hardly mattered,
and Adrian, my late poet-painter mate
-- his stone deserved a better fate.

One dedicated to Dalglish, the football star,
renowned from Anfield to Quatar,
the veteran Scouse comic, Ken Dodd,
both stars missing a leg -- most odd.

Another stone pulverised, alas, alack
-- that of songstress Cilla Black,
formerly Priscilla White, the Cavern coatcheck girl,
who awaits some lasting walk to be unfurled.

"I took these around 2004 before they were lost forever,
the original Liverpool Walk Of Fame from the Old Festival Gardens Site."
