Well I missed a couple of decades when I didn't buy chips, but I just about remember when they were priced with the letter 'd' (old pence). Just seems a little odd to paint on the roof, like that.

Pic of the Day just needs a pic for today (28th July, and then July is back into line).

You used to ask for "a 6 of chips" (6d in old money), and get them in a paper cone.
Nowadays, you ask for a small portion of chips, and get far too many (and soggy with fat!), and pay about £1.

I remember, chips 6p a packet and the bits of batter off the fish, 1p a pack, as kids we loved them, all in the old money.

Bold St, central Liverpool. This street reached its nadir by the early 1990s with many shops derelict. In recent years it has undergone a renaissance and now has quite a cosmopolitan feel about it.

Marky, I was looking at that building today, I thought it was a bit weird too

    Hi Taffy

I didn't know about this memorial rose garden at Sudley im memory of the Liverpool supporters who died at Hillsborough. I know Sudley very well so I am pleased that the people of my old areas, Mossley Hill and Aigburth, contributed toward the garden. Many thanks for the photograph, Taffy.
