I met Rory when he decided to try working on private hire, the poor dispatcher used to dread him calling in for a job on the radio when it was busy. Anyone who knew him will know why.

My husband met him once. He accompanied someone on a business call at the family home. He met Rory and his mother.

There seems to be a bit more to the double tragedy than mere chance though. Must have been really sad for his sister, Mrs. Alvin Stardust.

Would this sister be Iris, whom I have seen referred to (possibly in The Beatles Anthology) as an early paramour of Macca?

I read; of Macca at about 17 and George when she was 12 or so, forsooth.

Suffered a terrible stammer did Rory. People who saw him perform say he was brilliant.

    Old Swan lad I believe.

Yes, I think it was Davidson Road because when I was on the first ever Beatles Magical History tour as part of Mr Pickwicks convention in Oct 77, the coach went down there, the guide pointing out his house.

I saw him at the Cavern many times. Always seemed nervous, dreadful haircut but very sweet. I remember reading that one of them found the other dead and took their own life. Will look it up later, busy, busy

OK, thank you . I just had nipped in for a second and did not read them. I remember crying when I heard he died, he seemed such a nervous little thing. Gentle.

Yes, just read your link. That is what I remember. Such a shame. Strange seeing Ringo with the grey hair in the pic. He had all that grey at the sides from he was 20 or even before. He did not colour it until he joined the Beatles!

I knew Mr Good who gave Rory speech therapy lessons in the 50's. Mr Good's son, Billy, plays bass gtr. with the Undertakers, present day. I recall a TV programme about the Liverpool beat scene where Rory (and other bands) mimed to the records that were on "This is Merseybeat" LP. The video might be available, it was filmed at the Cavern by Granada TV and was called Beat City. There are other Merseyside forgotten musos in it, such as "Lord" Willy Woodbine".
Reminds me, still smoking behind the bike sheds,
