Is that the Brookhouse in the background? Courtesy LRO
That's a fantastic photo, and so clear. Think it is the Brookhouse.
Magnificent stuff you're giving us tonight Kev.
A proud looking bunch of lads those Indian soldiers, getting plenty of attention from the locals, and now from us. Thanks Kev.
Think you're right about the Brook House, but was it the Hatfield Hotel at that time?
That's a great pic' Kev'! Recognition of Britains colonial forces, and the sacrifices they made, are often overlooked!
Keeping it real!

Almost certain it is the Brook House. Although there is a wall and railings where there should be none.
They look magnificent.

becomes a Venice without canals, just another city, no
longer of special interest to anyone, least of all the

Really interesting pic yep, that does look like the Brookhouse.
What an amazing photo! I just came across it today- very nice comments by everyone else also-and it looks like the Brook house to me too!
Fantastic photograph, Kev. It is the Brook House, and you will see that the half-timbering, large mullioned bay window, and drainpipe conform to this more recent view in the Flickr group The Secret Life of Smithdown.

That is a superb photograph, the clarity for the time is amazing. But what was the occassion? They seem to be wearing ceremonial style uniforms. If the date was 1902 was it something to do with Queen Victoria's funeral? She died 1901. Where would the Indian soldiers have been accommodated ( it is unlikely to have been the Brooke House)? Were they in Liverpool for re-embarkation on ships to take them back to India after the funeral? More info on the background to this fantastic photo needed please.
