Default A Bird’s Eye View of Liverpool c1910

The view of the photograph is clear enough, looking to the Custom House and beyond, but I am puzzled as to where it was taken from. The dock in the foreground is empty, the remnant of George’s Dock, but I had assumed it had been filled in at the time Mersey Docks and Harbour Board [...]

Would this view not be from the partly completed Royal Liver Building?

I'd say it was taken on the roof of the building of the Cunard building,so near to the dock in the photie.

Photie is saying C1910 liver building was from 1908 to 1911,Docks and harbour board building was 1903 to 1907,Cunard building was 1914 to 1916.

"Bird's eye view?" You didn't say the bird was on the toilet at the time Colin.

Very space-age that shot George, very George Jetson indeed.

It's good to have a clear view of the Goree Plazza from the side, showing the arches. I think I've only ever seen photographs of the end elevation before now.

Thanks George, the Google pic gives me the answer (I think). The roof in the immediate foreground is pitched - which ties in with the Pierhead Overhead Railway Station roof (the Cunard Roof is flat with small parapet). This would suggest the photographer is taking the view from the newly completed (or partly completed) Liver Building and has just caught the corner of the station roof.
