I've tried to get a birth certificate but Dublin Records can't help as I don't know his date of birth. I know it's a long shot but can anyone help me out?

Thanx Wendy
Hello Wendy
It may be just a coincidence of names with no connection to your Grandad but a writer in the Northeast of England, named
Patrick Lavelle, has written about "Wearside Jack" who sent the hoax communications pretending to be the Yorkshire Ripper. Those communications are now known to have been sent by Sunderland man John Humble who pleaded guilty and is now serving time in jail. If you follow the link it will lead you to contact details for Mr. Lavelle. You never know -- there may be a connection! Good luck, Wendy.
