That top 100 list has some of my favourite buildings. I prefer to see Liverpool as it really is, rather than some phoney tarted-up City just for the snooty-set and tourists. I'll take a few pics before they are covered-up.
    I completely agree with this.
It feels like we're in a massive school and Ofsted are a coming!

Has anyone seen the 3 stuccoed georgian style houses next to Brougham terrace (are they actually THE Brougham terrace????) or know if the city council still own them? They are derelict with broken windows and part of the roof missing at the rear. As far as I was aware, they were part of the council buildings that include what was the Registary office and are still contained within the car park. If they are still owned by the city, how can they crtitcise or prosecute landlords when they do nothing about this. If they do not own the site, how can they ignore it being next to what I thought were still council offices?
Whatever the situation, they need adding to the Stop the Rot campaign

8, 9 & 10 are the 3 remaining houses of 11 that made Brougham Terrace.
Built about c1830 and designed by J A Picton.
Numbers 1 to 7 were replaced by the West Derby Public Offices, and number 11 by the Savoy cinema.
The whole block is still called Brougham Terrace.
Don't know if the former cinema is owned by the Council, but the others are. Perhaps number 8 is leased out.
Number 8 became the first mosque in the country in 1889, and it's planned to turn it into a museum.
On the news this morning it was said they have 2 years, and if nothing's done by then the Council will take number 8 back.

    Correction.
There were originally 12 houses in Brougham Terrace.
The Savoy cinema was built on the site of numbers 11 & 12.

The half-wrecked building in Moss Street looked like it was being demolished today (a JCB was at the rear pulling back brickwork)
