The Olympia is one of the most important theatre buildings in the country, let alone Liverpool.
Admittedly, it could probably do with a more caring owner.
It shouldn't have banners hanging on the frontage.
Some of the decorative stonework has fallen off in the area where the banners are.

The building on the left is the Gregson's Well, but you probably know that.
The Royal Hippodrome would have loomed over this site, but it is now a builder's yard, which is what it looks like Rimmers was.
Ferguson & Harvey were on the right, and that was definitely a builder's yard, because they took over the adjoining Hippodrome site.

Mandy, I'm not sure what building you're interested in.
Gregson's Well is in West Derby Road, so the building next to it is 88 Low Hill.
Here's the 1968 directory entry for the end of Low Hill.

John Rimmer was My grandmas uncle & I was told her family was conned out of the building because someone couldn't read or write

Rimmers were obviously there for at least 30 years.
    The name is vaguely familiar.
They might have built some cinemas.
    I'll check my notes later.

Did you know that there are more Rimmers in Southport than any other name?
    Or so I heard.
    It's probably true.

Surely there are many more derelict rows of shops in Liverpool. Why has the Echo selected the ones mentioned. Those on the L7 part of Smithdown rd surely deserve a grot mention !!!

    7. Gas holder, Speke Road, Speke.

Do they mean the ones on Banks Rd Garston. I quite like those !!
Certainly south Liverpool could not do without them

    Sorted I think:

    11. King Edward pub, Great Howard Street, city centre.

    56. Derelict garage, Queens Drive, Clubmoor.
    87. Burned-out fire station, Speke Road/Banks Road, Speke.
    90. Deserted tarmac triangle, Edge Lane Drive, Old Swan.

I think Rimmer is a common name in Liverpool as it originated in Southport
I don't know any Rimmers though

I know some Rimmers. They tell me the surname is of Viking origin.

@Ged, those houses on Fountains Road had a 'Sold' sign put up recently, so I expect something will happen to them.
That top 100 list has some of my favourite buildings. I prefer to see Liverpool as it really is, rather than some phoney tarted-up City just for the snooty-set and tourists. I'll take a few pics before they are covered-up.
