Arrow River Jordan Culvert - Liverpool -Jan 2011

The River Jordan Culvert is situated in the Otterspool area of Liverpool.
From Sefton Park the stream is culverted through Otterspool Park under the woodland before joining the Mersey.
There is a collapse in the middle of the tunnel meaning its now split into 2 halfs, the pics below are of "Tunnel 2" over 2 seperate visits.
The Tunnel is very cramped and low in parts,so if you suffer Claustrophobia and Arachnophobia(spiders are big) forget it,not including the large eels, fish and rats.We ventured far into the tunnel crouching eventually having to crawl.
Enjoyed this explore vastly and cant wait for more undergroud stuff.
Visited with Georgie t,The Cat Crept In and The Ripper(2nd visit).

Georgie t in one of the higher parts.

I could expect spiders and rats, but didn't think there would be eels there !

At the other end of the park, at the northern end of Mossley Hill Drive, as part of the refurbishment of Sefton Park, a bore hole was sunk into the lower Jordan to provide water to feed the lakes via Old Nick's Grottoes and a rebuilt waterfall. It was all very impressive...... for a time; but now the supply has dried up and the waterfall is just a dribble. Anyone know why? Is there a fault, or has the power been switched off as part of the Cuts?
