    Default Rumney Road.

One of a number taken by the city engineers in 1972 to record what was to be demolished.

Do these ones ring any bells Steve?

Yes, what a loss Bill. However, some interior shots and cracks in rear walls, not particularly of these, but most in the slum clearance area seem to be the reason why they were demolished. To think that rows of terraced streets were demolished in the 60s to build the pebble dashed Easby Estate and just 40 years later, they too are being demolished.

There were a few streets like them Ged, but the majority were rubbish, Howley St,Tillard St,Harcourt St and the like needed demolishing.
Glazed brick makes all houses look nice from the outside.

Wow! thanks Ged,they're great pic's!!! Not a 100% sure, but the house in the last pic' with the bay removed was the one I lived in! The previous pic's were further along, towards Westminster rd. There are streets towards the other end, inc' Garnett avenue,by the "rec",which weren't demolished, and are still perfectly habitable!

Great stuff Steve. I know as i'm looking at these ones i'm getting for the first time that although they may mean nothing to me, they will to someone. As the LRO are still archiving, a lot of these haven't had anyone get them out before. There are folders with dozens and dozens of slum clearance properties in. I had to change my batteries 3 hours in

Arr thanks Lindy, yeah but it's fun too. I have a bit o' banter with the LRO staff now too. The new place is a lot quicker, I might advocate they stay there.
