    Actually I now realise that Old Liverpool is also a project of Caryl Williams who started the site I noted above. Old Liverpool seems to be a more sophisticated version of the same, with graphics added.

    Newspaper archives with their collections of millions of old newspaper articles have always been a treasure trove for historical research or to find a person, but in pre-digital days, a treasure that one approached with grim determination.

    Ah yes. Before we had Micro-chips we had Micro-fische. Redolent of something else wrapped-up in Newsprint.
