Hiya Roscoe...I live in Garston and I am 50 yds from Brodie Avenue....named after John Alexander Brodie...although the City Engineer, he was famous , and made A LOT of money because he invented the FOOTBALL NET and the Cricket net...even though he made all that money he still stayed on at his job....his Football Net was first used by Nottingham Forest in about 1889....check it out on google...and from that day, the money rolled in......as Brodie Avenue was named after him , I tend to think he may have died here in Garston.....allan
Hello Roscoe.
Some news for you via my good friends at the LRO.
John Alexander Brodie died in November 1934 and is buried in Anfield Cemetery.
Cheers,
Ged.
Good work Ged....friends in LRO....that`s handy to know......allan
Hi just to confirm, JA died 16 Nov 1934 and his ashes are scattered at Anfield Cemetery. Special permission was given to do this. he is my great grandfather. I was wondering what your connection is. Are you related too? I am in NZ and am having trouble finding where his wife is buried. Hope to hear from you soon.
John Brodie once lived at Ullet Road:

When my uncle was small, his family lived in the second floor of the house as it was then converted in to flats.
Hiya ,
Was his wife's name Amelia Freeland ?
I was told John A Brodie lived in AIGBURTH HALL RD in 1911 .

Did he not actually live in Aigburth Hall at one time?
The 1901 census has the Brodie family living at 28 Ullet Road, then phone directories for 1911 and 1922 show he is living in Aigburth Hall which is also the address given at the time of his death in 1934.
John married Amelia Freeland in 1897 in Scotland. she died 1954 in Wiltshire.
did indeed live at 28 Ullet Road in the 1901 census but the 1911 has him living in Aigburth Hall with his 4 children, but Amelia (known as Aimee) Freeland Brodie was elsewhere on census night. The british ph books have him still there in 1922, 2 Aigburth Hall Road. His wife died 1954 in the Devizes Wiltshire area. Does anyone who know where she is buried? I am visiting the UK next month and would love to pay my respects. She is my gt grandmother, or where John Forrest Brodie is buried, their son who died 1956. Thanks

A photograph and write up on John Alexander Brodie also features on pages 20 and 21 of my 3rd book 'In a city living 3 - The Tenements'.
Hi Jed, I'm in Liverpool for 24 hours. Any idea where I might find a copy of your book to buy?
Hiya bigcous. It's very hit and miss who has them in but originally they were everywhere from WH Smiths, Waterstones, Borders, Pritchards, The Cathedrals, Museum, Conservation Centre and about a dozen L3/L5 shops I put them in but your best bet might be directly from the publishers, Countyvise where you can order them online/over the phone even when you're not in Liverpool. Thanks for asking.
