Love to see these old sandstone walls. Makes me feel homesick. The below shot of the wall at Stanlawe Grange, Aigburth Hall Avenue, has been on here before, I believe, but I couldn't resist. I took it on a visit to the 'Pool in May 2007.

Does anyone remember one of my favourite walls it was a house off Rocky Lane ( West Deby Road) that had the Rocky Rabbit on it , the shape of a rabbit made up from peeling render. It was there for years and it was a sad day when the owners re -rendered the outside

I've posted these pic's before,as I was curious as to how such high walls, which are in Newquay,by the Pier head, have remained so straight, after so many years, assuming they are around a hundred years old! Oudis provided some info' on technique, and materials used.

    Some wall/masonry inspired idioms/phases/rhymes:

    Driving me up the wall.
    Brick sh*t-house
    Bricked it, or bricking it.
    Stoned
Knocking me 'ed against a brick wall.
Sitting on the fence [though not masonry, so may be disqualified?]
Stick your head above the parapet.
Humpty Dumpty sat on a wall...
He/She was the 'cornerstone' of the community.
My request was 'stonewalled' by red tape.

Croxteth HallLane, this one has clocked up some milage as it went all the way round Lord Derbys estate and thats vast, alas as usual we build house on plots of land and things get in the way and have to be demolished in certain areas.
