A pal of the Pres is 95% certain that he will step down later tonight, the head of the army has been to 'freedom square' to tell the protesters that they have won!

I think we're all waiting for a broader-based Government... but instead of the bath and rinse (hopefully not a blue one!), you could have been down at Ricky's Green Room this evening, planning the rebellion... Some brilliant speakers and a great atmosphere from the assembled capacity audience, all of whom can hardly wait till March 26th.... Hopefully, Mubarak will be gone by then and the Egyptians will have set us an example...

(Not just my - or Oudeis's - idea to see a parallel here: the comparison was noted by several speakers...)

Surely the problem is not whether he 'stay's or 'goes'! It's who!, or what!, will replace him???

I think it is disgracefull in this day and age, that a leader who was not chosen by people can impose hard line policies on the whole country.

I'm not talking about Mubarak, but Cameron.

I hope it's going to be a good ending too and they get someone with the best interests of the people in power. Opps we're talking about politicians here, who mostly lack integrity, given the lies they spout before they're elected - Cameron, Clegg and co spring to mind!!!

    I am such a cynic!

... of the end? Or just the end of the beginning?

Remember that Mubarak was able to operate his repressive rule for the last 30 years under Emergency Powers implemented by the army and police. Armies aren't usually too keen to hand over power once they've got it! The big question is: will the people still come out into the streets when they're not sure they won't be fired on?

Right to be so too, BH! I can't help worrying slightly though about what happens when disillusionment sets in again... Remember Obama!

At least most of us in the UK weren't exactly expecting liberation when the regime changed...
