    Default Liverpool History Photo Trivia

    Hi all

This is another one where PhilipG might have to kindly sit back and not provide the answer to allow others the chance. Thanks, Philip.

View of Albion House, James Street and the Strand, Liverpool. Photograph courtesy of A. D. Williams. This building closely resembles another famous building in another city. What would that building be? Good luck!

Correct. Both Albion House and New Scotland Yard on the Thames Embankment were designed by noted architect by Norman Shaw. On the Liverpool building he collaborated with J. Francis Doyle. New Scotland Yard was opened in the 1890's so is the historical Scotland Yard of the Ripper and Sherlock Holmes eras but has been since superceded by an even newer building located elsewhere. The original Scotland Yard got its name from being built at the location of the mansion house of the Kings of Scotland in medieval times when Scotland was a separate kingdom to England.

Yes thanks, Ged. You have it. I only recently heard of this rumor myself. I don't know what basis of truth there may have been to the story. Sounds a bit of a stretch to me!

It does to me too Chris as the Beatles have never mentioned it to my knowledge. There will always be rumours where a group of that magnitude is concerned though.
