    Default That Rooney dosh ???

There's been quite a few comments over the last little while about the bluenoses wishing that they had the money to spend that Liverpool have.

But I was just kicking through some footy stuff and came across something that may or not be true, to wit that Everton have received a total of 31,000,000 for Wayne Rooney (transfer fee and contractual extras).

If this is true I think I'd be up in arms demanding to know where all that dosh went.

Good point, but far easier for the Bluenoses to blame Liverpool than look at the facts.

Seriously, a lot of it went to clear existing debts I think. They also only got about £18 million up front, with the rest spread over the time of the contract or onlypayable depending on appearances/success.

I don't think running a football club is quite that simple. I think there are other areas which require funding aside from investing in players.

That is bang on Ste. We had to sell him or go pretty much under it seems, or at least be in never ending spirraling debt. If you remember, Everton were looking at entering into a mortgage whereby our next 25 years of potential season ticket sales would be snaffled, thankfully I don't think this went ahead.

I didn't know things were quite that bleak.

Seriously it wasn't a wind up, and I was quite surprised to find out just how much the Rooney sale was to EFC.

It looks like the Toffees desperately need that buyer to come along, the problem is that with heavy debts and no forseeable light at the end of the tunnel without mortgaging the clubs future it doesn't seem very likely. Unless there is a real Evertonian out there with very deep pockets who will do it for the love of the club.

Rooney gets loads of stick off Evertonians but he effectivly saved the club,we may have eventually ended up like Leeds if it wasn't for him,our predicament was that serious. If we'd have got relegated God knows what would have happened.

Does anyone know if Everton is planning any big name signings during the summer? I have heard rumors about many Premiership sides however I haven't heard any rumors about Everton and new players.

Er so he wasn't just being a greedy pr*ck who pledged his future to Everton and then fecked off to the highest bidder the first chance he got ?

Who'd be the owner of a club eh. You can't do right for doing wrong, it'd have to be for the love of it. It'd be easy to come out of a club with 50 million pounds at the end of it - start with 100 million.
