"Demolition was a threat from 1960 as a myriad of development proposals came and went."

From page 104 where Sharples also mentions...?

"The dock was initially a great success, specializing (with a Z) in the Far East trade..." blah blah blahhh...

I'm well aware of what Sharples says thanks, I've got the book.
