Went to the Albert dock today and the propellor to the Lusitania is currently inaccessible due to the building work going on at the Museum of Liverpol Life. Its been moved along the dock wall for the time being and is still visible from the doors of the Maritime Museum. Its incredible to think we have a huge piece of the ship here in Liverpool and we should cherrish it forever.

Of the 4 screw propellors, 3 were recovered in the early 80s. One went to America and was melted down into golf clubs for a rich businessman, one came to Merseyside and the other went to a welsh scrapyard. I wonder if anyone from Yo knows which scrapyard that it went to and if it is still there?

Is true Chris. Dr Robert Ballard acknowledges it in his book.

The grave of Thomas Owen Hughes, who went down with the Lusitania, can be seen in the marvellous Overleigh Cemetery in Chester-

There are many more fascinating burials here, well worth a visit when you're in Chester. The cemetery is right next to the Grosvenor Bridge and river. Check out my gallery-

My pleasure mate. It works by people sending me their stories, pictures and memories plus a lot of passion, research and hard slog. So if any of you come across any such I'll be grateful to get them.

I'll eventually be writing a Liverpool version of the 'Chester Virtual Stroll'. Got the material, well, some of it at least, just need the time and money so if there's any advertisers, sponsors or philanthropists out there give me a call (hey, no harm in asking!) It'll be really great...

The panel of the ship on the memorial is thought to be cracked by design, that's one suggestion anyway. The colours are so vivid.

Don't ask me about technology. That's one of the reasons I let my girls live with me.

It was a very sad story regarding the Lusitania. I have particular interest in the story, as my grandad SAPPER JOHN GREGORY was a stoker on the Lusitania when it went down, luckily for my grandad, he found something to hang onto in the water (My late mum said it was something made of cork, but knowing my mum that might have been wrong) But anyhow he survived, and carried on as a merchant seaman for many years after.

Lindac, do you know there is somebody who is collating details of survivors and what happened to them after the sinking of the Luci. His name is Peter Kelly and he has something to do with this American website although he is from Ireland. Your grandad may be of interest to him and he is very helpful.
