    I worked in WH.Smith from 1977'ish
    WH.Smith was where Coopers was.
    M reg cortina in the pic so was from 74 onwards if i'm right, i may be a year out

    the buildings were known as "coopers buildings" as long as I ever knew, they were hit in the war by bomb damage, an old tutor of mine at tech was an apprentice assigned to fix up ther bomb damage

    Yes some very vivid memories of Coopers walking around with me Dad as a kid in the sixties mmmmm ... the coffee smells and all the german sausages!

    Not sure whether I`ve posted this before but some members might not have seen it. On the left is Hendersons store which had a massive fire.

    Ah, the Tatler. Used to go in there with mates but several strange individuals used to frequent the place and you had to keep a tight hold on your nuts!

    remember going up in a lift in Coopers to the restaurant as a kid , amazed when the lift door opened on the other side to the one we got in!

    Yes, that's right. Not certain, but i think they changed the name when they moved south. They're very amenable so if you're looking for specific material, don't hesitate to contact them. They'd be the first to admit that only a small fraction of their collection has made it to their fab website yet.

    hi can anyone help,
    john(zappa) and i were trying to figure out when church street became pedestrianised, we can both remember trying to cross a hectic lord street in the late 80's but are at a loss when it comes to church street.
